CHENNAI: The police arrested two people from Andhra Pradesh, for attempting to sell fake gold biscuits worth Rs 10 lakh to a woman in Tiruvallur.

The arrested were identified as Lakshmi (27) and Ravikumar (23). The duo visited a beauty salon owned by Saranya in Melnallathur a week ago for a facial.

After getting the facial done, claiming that they were road construction workers, they told Saranya that they found gold bars weighing 430 grams during work.

They expressed willingness to sell the gold to Saranya for Rs 10 lakhs. Tempted by this offer, the woman approached her acquaintance Irfan and the duo took the gold to a nearby jewellery store where they were told it was original.

Following this, Saranya and Irfan handed over Rs 10 lakhs and took possession of the gold the next day.

However, when Saranya and Irfan approached the jewellery store again, to their horror, they were informed that it was fake.

Shocked by this, the duo filed a complaint with the Tiruvallur police who arrested Lakshmi and Ravikumar and confiscated the fake gold bars.
