CHENNAI: The All India Congress Committee (AICC) on Sunday approved the appointment of new Presidents for the District Congress Committees in Tamil Nadu, with immediate effect, as part of the party’s organisational restructuring ahead of key political challenges.

The Hon’ble Congress President has given approval for the appointment of Presidents of the District Congress Committees in Tamil Nadu, the AICC announced in a press release issued on Sunday.

The appointments have been made under the party’s nationwide organisational revamp initiative, Sangathan Srijan Abhiyan, aimed at strengthening the Congress at the grassroots level. As part of this exercise, AICC observers were assigned to each district to conduct detailed reviews, interact with party functionaries, and assess organisational performance.

Based on the comprehensive reports submitted by the observers and subsequent one to one discussions with senior party leadership, the new DCC Presidents have been finalised. The AICC said the appointments will take effect immediately.

The move is seen as a significant step towards energising the party cadre in Tamil Nadu and preparing the organisation for the upcoming electoral battles, including the 2026 Assembly elections.
