They handed over a petition demanding the arrest of Raja to Vellore SP Pravesh Kumar and later addressed the media to explain the reason behind their demand.

Stating that Raja’s comment was based on an accident that occurred near Vaniyambadi a few days ago, Akram said that it was not premeditated and that Vaniyambadi police had registered a case in this connection. Despite this, Raja branded all Muslims residing in Vaniyambadi as ‘terrorists’, he said. “This has hurt the feeling of the residents in the town and therefore we demand that Raja be arrested,” he said. Further, Akram expressed his doubt whether the police would take any action against the BJP office-bearer since the ruling AIADMK in the state was in alliance with the saffron party for the ensuing Lok Sabha polls. “Before the alliance was announced, we could reply on the government for action. However, now we are doubtful,” he said.
