CHENNAI: The State Registration Department has issued a government order to constitute a committee to fix guideline values to the newly created layouts in the State.

The order is based on a decision taken in a department meeting in June. During the meeting, it was decided to form a committee under the chairmanship of deputy inspector of registration.

Earlier, guideline values for new layouts were fixed by district registrars and promoters could approach the deputy inspector of registration if they were aggrieved with the district registrars decision. The present order also paves way for formation of an appellate committee.

If any application comes for the fixation of guideline value, concerned district registrar will inspect the site and recommend a guideline value based on the guideline values of nearby properties. Orders to fix the guideline values should be issued within 15 days from the date of recommendations given by district registrars.
