CHENNAI: Chief Minister MK Stalin on Wednesday said the DMK government was confident of securing a decisive victory in the 2026 Assembly elections, asserting that 2025 had already proved to be a successful year for Tamil Nadu.
Reviewing the government’s performance, Stalin said 2025 was marked by progress for both Tamils and the Tamil language. He noted that the State had gained national recognition for its economic performance and Gross State Domestic Product growth, and said the achievements would bolster Tamil Nadu’s target of becoming a one trillion dollar economy by 2030.
He said a range of welfare schemes had benefited women, farmers, students, persons with disabilities, fishermen, sportspersons and other sections of society. He listed programme deliveries including loan waivers, housing support through the Kalaignar Kanavu Illam Scheme and land rights ensured through patta distribution. Initiatives such as Ungaludan Stalin and Nalam Kakkum Stalin had addressed basic needs and health care, he said.
These achievements show that the Dravidian model government is working for the peopleCM Stalin
He also pointed to protests and political action taken by the State against the Union government in 2025, including opposition to constituency reclassification, the demand for a State Education Policy, calls for adequate education funding and securing a favourable court judgment against the Governor.
“The year 2025 has proved that Tamil Nadu will fight and will not bow to anybody. With the energy of our past agitations, we are moving towards the great victory year of 2026,” Stalin said, expressing confidence that the people would again deliver a strong mandate.
Stalin said 2026 would be a year of peace, happiness and further achievements for the State.
