Cleanliness worker in Tirunelveli suffers snake bite

The venomous snake bit on his leg when the victim was cleaning around a bush behind the programme stage.

MADURAI: A 55-year-old conservancy worker of Tirunelveli Corporation suffered a snake bite at Palayamkottai, where Chief Minister MK Stalin presided over the welfare measure distribution programme, on Sunday.

The victim was identified as Kannan. The venomous snake bit on his leg when he was cleaning around a bush behind the programme stage.

The snake was found inside a metal pipe. He was rushed to Tirunelveli GMCH.

After being admitted, the victim was administered an anti-snake venom injection to neutralise the toxin.

He is stable and may continue to remain in the hospital for observation, sources said.
