Child marriage averted in Cuddalore

A 14-year-old minor's marriage was arranged with a 25-year-old farmer Jaiganeshmurthy in a marriage hall in Setthiyathoppu.

After a child rights group based in Cuddalore was informed about a child marriage, they reported the marriage at an all-women police station. Inspector Agneeshwari and Sub-Inspector Thripurasundari, apprehended the girl's parents at their home on Tuesday night.

The 14-year-old minor's marriage was arranged with a 25-year-old farmer Jaiganeshmurthy in Setthiyathoppu on Wednesday. 

The cops then warned the girl's parents against marriage of their girl under 18 years of age. They were warned of serious legal consequences if they are persistent. The girl was handed over to Child Welfare Home later.
