Car hits stationary lorry, 2 killed near Viralimalai

Two persons died on the spot after their car hit a stationary lorry near Viralimalai early on Wednesday.

A group of four persons, who were identified as Manikandan (45) from Thirubuvanam in Sivaganga district, his friends Prabhu (36), Sivakumar (34), Mohan (58), all from Madurai were proceeding to Madurai from Chennai on Tuesday late evening. When they reached Viralimalai in Pudukkottai district at Tiruchy- Madurai bypass at around 4 am, Mohan who was driving the car lost control of the vehicle and hit a stationary container lorry in which both Prabhu and Manikandan died on the spot. Others sustained severe injuries.

On information, Viralimalai police rushed to the spot. They rescued the injured and rushed them to the Tiruchy GH. Police also retrieved the bodies and sent them to the Tiruchy GH. A case was registered and further investigations are on.
