Candidature filing to begin from 19th in TamilNadu

The candidature nomination filing process for the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections will begin from today (19th March) and end on 26th March.

The Parliamentary elections has been planned to take place in seven phases, throughout the country.

The first phase of election is on April 11th. Tamil Nadu and Pondicherry will face elections in the second phase on April 18th.

The vacant constituencies in Tamil Nadu - Thiruparankundram, Aravakkurichi, Ottapidaram will be excluded and the remaining 18 constituencies will face election on 18th April.The candidature filing for the same will start this tomorrow (19th March) and electoral officers have been nominated to all 39 constituencies.

Chennai Corporation's north zone Deputy Commissioner Dhivyadharshini, south zone Deputy Commissioner Dr.Aalpi John Vargeesum and central zone Deputy Commissioner P.N.Sridhar have been appointed electoral officers for their respective zones.

The candidates can file their nomination in the following places:

North zone: North Zone Corporation Deputy Commissioner Office, Basin Bridge Road, Old Washermenpet 

South zone: South Zone Corporation Deputy Commissioner Office, Doctor Muthulakshmi Road, Adyar

Central zone: Central Zone corporation Deputy Commissioner Office, 2nd  main road,Pulla Avenue, Shenoy Nagar

District Revenue Officer Karunakaran will be the electoral officer for Perambur constituency and nomination can be filed in the office of Chennai Corporation, 2nd main road,Sharma Nagar, Vyasarpadi.

Tamil Nadu Police along with the paramilitary forces are being engaged in the security of the electoral offices.
