Burevi Update: Thoothukudi Airport will be closed till mid-noon

On account of the deep depression Burevi that's stalled near Rameswaram, the AAI has decided to pause its operations in Thoothukudi airport till 12 pm, today.

Airport Authority of India announced that the airport has been closed till 12 pm, Friday on account of heavy rainfall in the city due to 'Burevi'.

It was reported that due to the continuous rainfall the runway has been waterlogged and as a safety precaution for the passengers the decision was taken. It was also feared that the heavy winds are likely to affect air traffic operations.

Passengers are requested to seek information regarding on their flights from their respective airlines.

Meanwhile, residents of Thoothukudi and Rameswaram were requested to ensure precautions and were also requested to stay at homes, considering the heavy to very heavy rainfall that is expected to continue for the next few hours.
