BJP eyes repeating Bihar magic in TN

The political wind that favoured the NDA in Bihar would also blow southward in Tamil Nadu in 2026, the leaders expressed confidence

CHENNAI: According a grand welcome to newly taken over BJP national working president Nitin Nabin's maiden visit to Tamil Nadu, the state leaders of the saffron party said that the Bihar politician's arrival would help repeat the Bihar landslide victory for National Democratic Alliance (NDA) in the State.

The political wind that favoured the NDA in Bihar would also blow southward in Tamil Nadu in 2026, the leaders expressed confidence.

Addressing reporters, Union Minister of State L Murugan said the BJP’s victory in Bihar was achieved with Nitin Nabin playing a key role and described his guidance as a major strength for the party’s campaign in Tamil Nadu.

Nitin Nabin arrived in Chennai from New Delhi on Saturday afternoon, delayed by three hours due to fog in the national capital, and was taken on a vehicle roadshow before proceeding by road to Puducherry for party programmes. He is scheduled to return to Chennai on Sunday evening before flying back to New Delhi.

State unit BJP leaders asserted that the momentum in Bihar would help the NDA form the next government in the State.

Speaking to reporters after meeting a delegation of Sri Lankan Tamil leaders at Kamalalayam, the BJP headquarters in Chennai, State president Nainar Nagenthran said the interaction was a courtesy call and focused on issues concerning Tamils in Sri Lanka. He said the sentiments of Sri Lankan Tamils were deeply rooted in Tamil Nadu and called on political parties, cutting across affiliations, to unite in extending support to their kin across the Palk Strait. The concerns raised by the delegation would be conveyed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi through a formal letter, he added.
