Bharat Jodo Yatra: Rahul lands in Kanniyakumari

CHENNAI: Congress MP Rahul Gandhi arrives Kanniyakumari ahead of Bharat Jodo Yatra- to begin from Kanniyakumari stressing the need for unity.

Rahul arrived in an helicopter and was accompanied by Ashok Gehlot, Rajasthan Chief Minister, KC Venugopal, general secretary of AICC, Karnataka and Kanniyakumari MP Vijay Vasanth. Rahul is scheduled to address public rally at Kumari evening.

As many as 1,500 police personnel have been deployed in Kanniyakumari district ahead of Congress MP Rahul Gandhi's yatra for unity. To further enhance surveillance, two drone cameras are operational and CCTV cameras also functional at important places, says DIG Pravesh Kumar, Tirunelveli Range.

Three functionaries of Hindu Makkal Katchi, including one from Tirunelveli, were made preventive arrests, the DIG said. Earlier, Arjun Sampath, founder of HMK along with three others courted arrested in Dindigul while they were on way to Kanniyakumari by train to show black flags on Rahul's arrival.
