Chennai
Hindu Makkal Katchi submitted a petition at the City Police Commissionerate, seeking arrest of Kamal Haasan and 14 others who are part of Big Boss and stop the broadcast of the show. Meanwhile, Dravidar Viduthalai Kazhagam (DVK) gave a petition to police on similar lines at Madurai.
In the petition, the party has stated that the Big Boss show has been obscene in terms of participants’ dress code and language and against Hindu culture.
“The show went to the extent of mocking Tamil Thai Vazhthu, the official Tamil Song of Government of Tamil Nadu, which has offended the entire Tamil population. So, both the contestants and the show’s host Kamal Haasan should be arrested,” said the petition.
However, responding to HMK’s complaint, Kamal Haasan said he wouldn’t mind being arrested to make a point about how silly the protest is and retorted that even the cheerleaders who dance around the cricket ground after every boundary should be arrested.
“I’m mistaken by deep Tamil groups as Brahmin. I’m mistaken by Hindutva group as communist. But the truth is I’m a rationalist and open to ideas from either if they work with world’s logic,” said Kamal Haasan, speaking to a news channel. In madurai, DVK functionaries had demanded the Police to book a case against Gayathri for her derogatory comments against slum people.
I believe in our judiciary: Kamal Haasan
The Hindu Makkal Katchi on Wednesday demanded a ban on the Tamil version of reality show “Bigg Boss” and wanted its host actor-filmmaker Kamal Haasan arrested. In a police complaint, the nationalist Hindu party demanded that the contestants of the show -- such as Oviya, Namitha, Ganja Karuppu and Harathi among others be arrested as well.
Reacting to it, Kamal Haasan said, “If they want to arrest me, let them do that. I believe in my judicial system. In fact the law will protect me. So, it is not my duty to answer to a fringe group who celebrated with me when I made Dasavatharam and file a complaint against me when I host Bigg Boss.
I have been a part of many controversial movies or scenes which mean, they have delayed my arrest. When asked if the show is wrongly influencing people and the case of Tamil Anthem being insulted, he said, “We haven’t insulted Tamil Anthem. We instead taught them how to pronounce it in the right way.”
