CHENNAI: AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K Palaniswami has announced a four-day extension for receiving applications from party members aspiring to contest the 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly election.

In a statement, he said the decision followed continued requests from party functionaries and cadre across the State. Earlier, applications were accepted from December 15 to December 23, during which 8,157 applications were received, paying an application cost of Rs 15,000 each.

Citing the overwhelming response and appeals for additional time, party chief Palaniswami said eligible party members may now obtain and submit application forms during the extended period from December 28, 2025 (Sunday) to December 31, 2025 (Wednesday), between 10 am and 5 pm each day.

He added that the surge in applications reflects the confidence of the cadre in the AIADMK leadership and the party’s preparedness to face the 2026 Assembly elections.
