CHENNAI: AIADMK general secretary and Leader of Opposition Edappadi K Palaniswami grabbed on Monday joined the viral Studio Ghibli trend to create his “memorable moments” and sharing them on his X handle.
“From the heart of #TamilNadu to the world of #StudioGhibli – blending some of my most memorable moments with timeless art,” said Palaniswami, accompanied by four animated pictures. Among them were images of him standing with paddy crops, interacting with farmers, and sharing a stage with medical aspirants who benefited from the Tamil Nadu government’s 7.5% reservation for government school students. These were just a few of the four pictures shared on his social media account. The post went viral, crossing over 949 reposts and recording 4.2k likes.
One of the Ghiblis of Palaniswami, depicted with an elderly woman affectionately touching his cheek with his trademark smile, grabbed the attention of not just the AIADMK’s chief’s followers, but also critics. Many on social media ridiculed him for the infamous incident in which he prostrated before former party AIADMK general secretary VK Sasikala. Others labelled him a “traitor” for supporting the BJP’s controversial farm bills and allowing the implementation of NEET.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi and iconic cricketer Sachin Tendulkar were among the popular personalities who took to Studio Ghibli trends earlier.
