As the local body polls have been confirmed, the AIADMK office witnessed huge head count to submit applications for the various capacities. Urban District Secretary P Kumar, along with Ministers Vellamani N Natarajan and S Valarmathi, received applications for the Manikandam and Anthanallur unions.
The leaders conducted interview with the candidates who have already applied. They asked questions related to the possible votebank and other tactics of wining the election.
Applications from as many as 15 wards in the Anthanallur union and 27 in Manikandan union were received, while 12 cadre submitted applications for the three District Councillors.
Meanwhile, the district administration has announced to conduct the local body elections in two phases. Accordingly, the Anthanallur, Manapparai, Vaiyampatti, Tiruvarumbur and Marungapuri unions are included in Phase 1 on December 12, while the unions lile Algudi, Annachanallur, Mursiri, Pullambadi, T-Petttai, Thottiyam, Thuraiyur and Uppiliyapuram are included in Phase 2 polling on December 30.
Nominations would be received at all the panchayat offices by the returning officers and assistant returning officers.
