According to police, Amalan alias Lurudunathan (32) of Murgambakkam was having an illicit relationship with one Sakti Priya, daughter of Kaliayperumal, a retired AFT mill worker. Sakti was married and had three children. When family members objected, she snapped ties with Amalan and the irate accused killed her three years back. He was arrested and was out now on bail.
Meanwhile, his trial came for hearing in a local court yesterday, during which Kaliyaperumal witnessed against Amalan. Furious over this, Amalan entered the residence of Kaliyaperumal and hacked him to death.
Mudaliarpet police seized the body and sent it for post-mortem.They caught Amalan, who was hiding at Murugambakkampet and interrogated him.
