5 die as house collapses due to rain in Krishnagiri

In a major tragedy, five members of the same family including three children, died when their house collapsed following heavy rain in Krishnagiri district on Thursday.

Police said P Radha, 65, her daughter Pushpa, 35 and her grandchildren Vasantha Kumar, 15, Bhagavathi, 13 and Mullai, 8, were fast asleep, when their mud house with a thatched roofing weakened due to rains and fell on them. 

In Vellore, Salman and his wife Aiyisha were killed on the spot when the wall of their house at Kandli near Tirupatthur collapsed in the incessant rain on Thursday. The rain had also caused leakage of power in an electrical equipment in a private shoe factory at Thuthipet near Ambur town. Thirty female employees, who experienced electric shock, were admitted to the Ambur GH.
