The three deceased persons were identified as V Prakash (22) from Dindigul, M Mani (20) also from Dindigul, S Narasimhan (25) from Tiruvannamalai and R Kannan (25), all working in a private firm in Coimbatore.

The three victim along with four of their friends came to Velankanni from Coimbatore on Friday. In the evening at around 5pm, all the members of the group went to the sea shore to take bath. Kannan managed to swim ashore as he knew swimming, while the other three got washed away. The other friends who were waiting for them in the sea shore immediately started to raise alarm.

They immediately informed the marine police who rushed to the spot. The marine police attempted to rescue the missing youth but they could not locate them as the waves were very rough.

On Saturday around 6 am, all the three bodies were washed ashore between Velankanni and Vedaranyam. Later, the marine police arrived at the spot and retrieved the bodies.
