3 bodies washed ashore in Nagai

The bodies of three youth who went missing late on Friday evening, were washed ashore in Velankanni on Saturday.

The three deceased persons were identified as V Prakash (22) from Dindigul, M Mani (20) also from Dindigul, S Narasimhan (25) from Tiruvannamalai and R Kannan (25), all working in a private firm in Coimbatore.


The three victim along with four of their friends came to Velankanni from Coimbatore on Friday. In the evening at around 5pm, all the members of the group went to the sea shore to take bath. Of them, four members got into the sea and were taking bath, when a giant wave took away Prakash, Mani, Narasimhan and Kannan.


Kannan managed to swim ashore as he knew swimming, while the other three got washed away. The other friends who were waiting for them in the sea shore immediately started to raise alarm.


They immediately informed the marine police who rushed to the spot. The marine police attempted to rescue the missing youth but they could not locate them as the waves were very rough.


Subsequently, the police team also sought the help of the local fishermen to trace the trio, but they too failed to locate them.


On Saturday around 6 am, all the three bodies were washed ashore between Velankanni and Vedaranyam. Later, the marine police arrived at the spot and retrieved the bodies.
