26-year-old construction worker killed in drunken brawl

Police said that with the help of an ambulance Shankar was rushed to the Chennai GH, but there he was declared brought dead.

CHENNAI: A 26-year-old construction worker was killed in a drunken brawl in Navalur on Friday.

Police said a group of construction workers were drinking liquor on a construction site in Navalur after working hours.

During that time, a quarrel broke out between Shankar Das (26) and Rashid Sheik (31).

Police said Rashid pushed Shankar down and on the impact, Shankar who fell on the floor suffered injuries to his head. Soon, the other workers helped Shankar and they gave first aid to him.

On Friday morning, as Shankar did not wake up for a long time, workers checked and found he was unconscious.

Police said that with the help of an ambulance Shankar was rushed to the Chennai GH, but there he was declared brought dead.
