20 chicks and ducks die after drinking contaminated water

When the birds died, the owners and their neighbours demonstrated in front of the VP office demanding that officials from the Madanur Panchayat union office visit the spot.

AMBUR: Residents of Periankuppam near Ambur staged an agitation in front of the Periankuppam village panchayat office following the death of 20 hens and ducks due to consumption of contaminated water, on Tuesday. The birds had reportedly consumed water from a nearby pond, into which local traders and the local body itself was in the habit of dumping accumulated garbage. When the birds died, the owners and their neighbours demonstrated in front of the VP office demanding that officials from the Madanur Panchayat union office visit the spot. However, no official turned up till 3 pm and the agitators gave up their demonstration and returned home with the dead birds.
