1,429 workers leave Tirunelveli

As many as 1,429 persons, including migrant workers and their family members, were taken to their native places by a special train from Tirunelveli railway junction on Wednesday evening.

The  Tirunelveli–Hatia ‘Shramik Special’ left Tirunelveli station at 6 pm. It will reach Hatia at 9.10 am  on May 15. Those passengers arrived much before the departure schedule for medical examination.  

Doctors screened the passengers, who were also seated maintaining social distancing during travel.  During journey hours, passengers will be provided with food packets and water bottles. The district administration and railways ensured orderly departure of those migrant labourers. 

 Prasanna, Senior Divisional Commercial Manager, Rajendra Nayak, Senior Divisional Mechanical Engineer, VJP Anbarasu, Divisional Security Commissioner, Southern Railway, Madurai division, were present at the station during departure, a statement said.
