Sridhar stars in Jai Hind’s win

S Sridhar (4/27) came up with a good spell as Jai Hind Cricket Club defeated Varsity Occasionals by 52 runs in a TNCA Sixth Division ‘A’ match here.

Batting first, Jai Hind posted 215 for nine in its regulation overs, thanks to half-centuries from K Venkatesh Sundar (60) and T Samuel Durairaj (58). A tough target ahead of it, Varsity Occasionals was bowled out for 163 in 27.4 overs. Sridhar was the tormentor-in-chief, taking four wickets for the winning side.


In a Sixth Division ‘B’ contest T Dhanasekar’s (91) fighting knock went in vain as TV Sivaprakasam Memorial Sports Club lost to YMCA (Royapettah) by 14 runs.

Ashok Leyland Athletic Association 140 for 9 in 30 overs (BM Bala Rajkumar 41, V Yogarajan 4/39) lost to Madras Indians CC 142 for 3 in 24.1 overs (M Muthu 60*, S Prasanth 49*).
