"Prime Minister (Narendra Modi) has already announced the setting up of a Board for Sports Education. Now, under the new education policy, sports will become a part of education," said Rijiju, who inaugurated the Dr NPV Ramaswamy Udayar Hockey Centre at the Sri Ramachandra Medical College and University here. In the past sports was treated as an extra-curricular activity. Rijiju stated that urged them to make the move. "Earlier, sports was not part of education system and was just an option," he added.
