CHENNAI: The sleuths from Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) have been carrying out searches at the properties of senior Congress leader P Chidambaram and his son and MP Karti Chidambaram in the city and other states, including Delhi, in connection with a reportedly fresh illegal gratification case registered.

Searches began as early as 7 am in the city and a heavy posse of police personnel have been posted outside the residence of Karti Chidambaram at Nungambakkam.

Meanwhile, criticising indirectly about the repeated searches, Karti Chidambaram tweeted on Tuesday morning that he has lost count. “I have lost count, how many times has it been? Must be a record.”

While CBI have already booked Chidambaram and Karti on the charges of illegal gratification to get Foreign Investment Promotion Board (FIPB) clearance for INX media, Chidambaram was arrested in 2019 in the case.
