Bomb exploded in heart of Imphal, no casualty

A bomb exploded beside a crowded market area in the heart of the city this evening, but there was no report of any casualty, police said.

The blast took place at around 6 PM at the western side of crowded Thangal Bazaar area damaging a car.

The spot of explosion is around 200 metre from the 'night plaza' which was inaugurated by Chief Minister N Biren Singh on October 2 to promote evening life in the city.

Police said the bomb, suspected to be an improvised explosive device, went off an hour before the scheduled opening of the night plaza, christened as "Imphal Evening".

The plaza is open on every Saturday and Sunday.
