8 killed as van plunges into 70-feet dry well in TN

Eight people including three children were killed when a mini-van went off the road and fell into a 70-feet dry well in this district on Sunday, police said.

The occupants of the van, numbering about 22, were proceeding for a festival when the driver lost control at Puthur near Thuraiyur as a result of which the vehicle went off the road plunged into the well, police said.

Fourteen people were rescued and admitted to hospital with multiple injuries.

The deceased included three children and five in the age group of 20 to 30, police said.
