Youth held with 3.5 kg ganja in Nungambakkam

CHENNAI: City Police have arrested a 22-year-old youth on Saturday for possession of 3.5 kg of ganja in Nungambakkam.

Police had received a tip off about ganja sales in Nungambakkam area after which special teams were formed to comb the neighbourhoods.

A youth, who was loitering near the Independence Day park, was detained on suspicion. When police checked his bag, he was found having 3.5 kg of ganja, meant for distribution.

Police also found five knives in his bag. The arrested person was identified as M Mohammad Rabi, of Nungambakkam.

Police said that Rabi has two pending cases against him. He was produced before a magistrate and remanded in judicial custody.
