Officials said Vanitha (32) of Madipakkam used to work as a call driver when she got introduced to ganja peddlers. That is how she started delivering the narcotic in large quantities. She received Rs 2,000 for each delivery, said the police.

Police said she made use of the cover of being a food delivery person and delivered the contraband at Koyambedu. After receiving a tip-off about her activity, a police team, which included a woman official, stopped her on Friday and seized the ganja that she was going to deliver.

During questioning, Vanitha told officials that she had enrolled herself in BCA undergraduate programme. She got married a few years ago, but got separated due to differences, officials said. She was remanded in custody.

Few months ago, a food delivery person was arrested in Mylapore for peddling ganja in a similar manner.
