The snake is believed to have taken shelter after the rain that lashed the city earlier this week. The deceased, P Sumithra, a home maker, was cleaning the shoe rack in her house in KK Nagar when the snake bit her. The incident happened around 10.30 pm on Tuesday. Her family members soon rushed her to Kilpauk GMCH. Later, she was shifted to a private hospital. From there, she was again shifted to Stanley GH for further treatment where she died without responding to treatment. KK Nagar police have registered a case in this regard and further investigation is on. Police sources alleged that there was a delay in her treatment process, which turned fatal. The family members were not able to locate the snake, cops said.
