Ward development funds to the councillors have been increased to Rs 35 lakh per year. Earlier, the GCC was releasing Rs 30 lakh per councillor. Meanwhile, Mayor’s development fund remains the same as the budget allocated Rs 2 crore. In total, Rs 70 crore has been allocated for the ward development fund and Mayor’s fund. N Dhanasekaran (ward 137) urged the Mayor to increase the ward development fund to Rs 50 lakh per ward.
