Underground parking open at Central Metro station

In a major relief for commuters, Chennai Metro Rail has thrown open its underground parking facility at the Central Metro station on Tuesday. A CMRL official said that for two-wheelers, it would be charged Rs 10 per hour and for four-wheelers, it would be Rs 25 per hour.

The parking fare could be paid only through CMRL card. The underground three-level car parking lot could house more than 100 cars at a time. Despite the Central Metro providing multi-modal transit integration with the Central railway station, MMC Suburban station, Park Town station and MRTS bus stop, it did not have a parking facility for the commuters. The underground parking facility could also be made use of by those arriving to pick up and drop in the Central railway station.
