In the first incident, A Priyadarshini (17) of Chempoondi village in Maduranthagam, a student of government higher secondary school in Elandathur village, left home for exam and did not return on Monday. Her father Arumugam filed a complaint with the Melmaruvathur police.

On Wednesday, residents noticed a body floating in a public well at Perumpakkam. The police retrieved the body and identified it as Priyadarshini.

In the second incident, P Balaji (16), a Class 11 student of a government school near Tambaram, was found hanging from the ceiling of his bedroom when his parents returned from a temple.

The Tambaram police retrieved the body and sent it for autopsy. The police suspect that the boy might have committed suicide due to tension over exams.
