Two dead, one severely injured in road accident

Two people were killed and one other sustained grievous injuries in a bizarre road mishap involving a share auto, a two-wheeler and a mini-lorry near Sunguvachatiram on Saturday morning.

Police said Krishnan (58) had boarded a share auto from Chandavellore and on reaching Sunguvachatiram had alighted from the auto and was in the process of paying up.

 Meanwhile, Vinoth (28) from Athur in Salem, riding a two-wheeler had to break behind the share auto, when a mini-lorry on losing control hit both Vinoth and Krishnan killing them on the spot.

Another person, Santhosh who was standing nearby also suffered grievous injuries in the mishap. On seeing this, the driver abandoned the mini-lorry and escaped from the accident spot. Sunguvachatiram police team rushed to the spot and admitted Santhosh in the hospital and sent the bodies for a post-mortem examination to Sriperumbudur Government Hospital. Further investigation was on.
