Two arrested for attacking man in drunken brawl near MGR Nagar

CHENNAI: City Police on Tuesday arrested two persons for attacking their friend in a drunken brawl and inflicting grievous injuries on him near MGR Nagar.

K Srinivasan (36) of Neidhal street in MGR Nagar was drinking with four of his friends when the incident happened on October 16.

During the drinking session, an argument broke out among the friends and the four of them ganged up against Srinivasan. They verbally abused him and then attacked him, police said. In the melee, the quartet broke the beer bottles on Srinivasan’s head and inflicted grievous injuries on him before fleeing the scene.

Passerby rescued the man and got him admitted to a hospital. Based on his complaint, MGR Nagar Police registered a case and arrested two persons - A Durairaj (26) and V Bharath (25). Search is on for two others - Vijay and Rajasingam, police said.

The arrested persons were produced before a magistrate and remanded in judicial custody.
