Yuvaraj, who recently returned from a pilgrimage to Sabarimala, decided to distribute the prasadam to his relatives. On Tuesday evening, the couple went to his relative’s house in Padianallur and was returning home on a two-wheeler.

At Redhills-Tiruvallur road junction, a truck rammed their two-wheeler from the rear and the couple was thrown away. Jayalakshmi, who suffered grievous injuries, died on the spot, while Yuvaraj escaped with minor injuries.

On information, the Madhavaram traffic investigation police registered a case and sent Jayalakshmi’s body to Ponneri Government Hospital for post-mortem examination. A hunt has been launched to nab the driver, who escaped leaving the truck behind.
