Truck driver arrested for murder

Preliminary investigations revealed that Senthil had accused Kumar of not helping while reversing the truck in traffic after which Kumar told Senthil that he does not know to drive.

CHENNAI: Police on Sunday arrested a 44 year old man, a truck driver for allegedly murdering a load man after a drunk argument in Guindy on Sunday.

The deceased was identified as T Kumar (47) of Guindy. Kumar along with the accused, S Senthil Kumar of Tiruvarur was drinking at a parking yard in SIDCO industrial estate in Guindy around 4 pm, when the incident happened.

Preliminary investigations revealed that Senthil had accused Kumar of not helping while reversing the truck in traffic after which Kumar told Senthil that he does not know to drive.

Enraged over this, the truck driver took an iron rod nearby and smashed Kumar on the head, killing him instantly.

Other truck drivers alerted the police, who rushed to the scene and secured the driver. The body was moved to Royapettah Government Hospital for autopsy. Further investigations are on
