Trio wielding machetes arrested in Pulianthope

CHENNAI: The Pulianthope police arrested three youths roaming with machetes on Saturday. They were booked under several sections, including the Arms Act, and six machetes were recovered from them.

The arrested youths were Sanjay (22), Srinath alias Praveen (23) and Vijay alias Baskaran (21) - all from Pulianthope.

A team headed by Pulianthope Inspector were patrolling VOC Nagar on Saturday when they noticed the youths moving suspiciously. When the personnel summoned them for questioning, the youths took to their heels, after which a police team chased and apprehended them.

Investigations revealed that the youths were carrying weapons to save themselves from a potential attack from their gang. All three have prior cases against them, including an attempt to murder case against Sanjay.
