CHENNAI: CHENNAI: The Chennai Metro Rail Limited (CMRL) has made it mandatory to have metro travel cards for payment at parking lots at all stations.
The rule, expected to promote cashless transactions, will come into effect from April 19.
According to a CMRL press note, the move is in response to increasing demand for a more efficient, convenient and secure method of payment, as well as the need to reduce the circulation of physical cash.
CMRL has instructed commuters to obtain the travel card at any metro station counter or the station’s parking lot.
CMRL assured passengers will experience faster entry and exit from the parking lots due to the move.
