Tomato price reduces to Rs 30 on January 14, 2026, at Chennai’s Koyambedu market

CHENNAI: Vegetable prices continued to fluctuate sharply at Chennai’s Koyambedu wholesale market on Wednesday (January 14).

According to traders, the price of tomatoes has dropped compared to the previous day.

Tomato, which was sold at Rs 40 per kg on January 13, is now priced at Rs 30 per kg, marking a fall of Rs 10.

Meanwhile, the prices of ooty carrot, drumstick, flat beans, peas, ginger, onion and potato remained unchanged.

Ooty carrot is priced at Rs 55 per kg, while drumstick costs Rs 260 per kg.

Peas are sold at Rs 40 per kg and flat beans at Rs 30 per kg.

Coconut is priced at Rs 55 per kg and ginger at Rs 70 per kg.

Onion is sold at Rs 24 per kg, while potato costs Rs 20 per kg.

Pongal special:

Sugarcane is priced at Rs 500 for 15 pieces, while a ginger plant costs Rs 1,500 per kg.
