On Monday, actor Sivakarthikeyan signed up for continuing his adoption of white tigress ‘Anu’ for a further period of four months. The tigress is among the 14 other white tigers housed in the park. The adoption was made as part of the park’s campaign to raise awareness about the need to protect wildlife.

Launched in 2009, more than 160 individuals and private firms have adopted animals under the programme so far.

Meanwhile, the zoo, on Monday, kickstarted its ‘Virtual Zoo Ambassador - Level 2’ programme. In level 1, over 1,000 students in the 10-20 age group from various places were trained. The participants will be titled as ambassadors of Vandalur zoo with an e-certificate.
