Schoolboy drowns in sea off Neelankarai

CHENNAI: A 13-year-old boy drowned in the sea off Neelankarai where he went with his friends on Tuesday.

His body washed ashore later in the evening. The deceased boy, a class 8 student named Allen of Thoraipakkam, had gone to the beach with his friends to take a dip in the sea.

As they were in the water, Allen was caught in a giant wave, which sucked him away.

Noticing the situation, his panicked friends alerted the police who rushed to the spot and initiated a search.

However, they could not find the missing boy. Later in the evening, the body was washed ashore.

A case was registered and an inquiry is on.
