As of Tuesday evening, Poondi reservoir received the maximum water inflow at 2427 cusecs. Its storage level stood at 1,426 mcft as against its total capacity of 3,231 mcft.

The Red Hills reservoir currently has a storage level of 1868 mcft vis-a-vis its full capacity of 3,300 mcft. In Cholavaram, the water level is at 201 mcft as compared to a total storage capacity of 1,081 mcft while Chembarambakkam reservoir has received significant inflow over the last few days, with inflow presently at 1634 cusecs to a storage level of 1052 mcft.

According to Metro Water officials, storage levels in the reservoirs are expected to rise further with the inflow remaining moderately high. If the combined storage of the four reservoirs crosses 6000 mcft, it will help ensure drinking water supply of 830 mld against the present supply of 650 mld, they pointed out.
