Ooty carrot price jumps to Rs 55 on January 13, 2026 at Chennai’s Koyambedu market

CHENNAI: Vegetable prices continued to fluctuate sharply at Chennai’s Koyambedu wholesale market on Tuesday (January 13).

According to the traders, compared to yesterday (Jan 12), the price of Ooty carrots has surged sharply.

While one kg of Ooty carrots was sold at Rs 35 yesterday, today the price has increased by Rs 20 to Rs 55 per kg.

Meanwhile, drumsticks, which were sold at Rs 250 yesterday, are now sold at Rs 260, a surge of Rs 10.

One kg of peas, which was sold at Rs 35, has increased by Rs 5 and is now selling at Rs 40 per kg.

Flat bean prices have also risen by Rs 5 and are being sold at Rs 30 per kg today.

Coconut, which was sold at Rs 52, rose by Rs 3 to be priced at Rs 55 per kg.

Ginger rose by Rs 2 to be sold at Rs 70 per kg.

Prices of onion, tomato and potato remained the same as on December 12.

Tomato is priced at Rs 40 while Onion is priced at Rs 24 per kg, and Potato costs Rs 20 per kg.
