Ooty carrot gets costlier at Chennai's Koyambedu market on January 4, 2026

CHENNAI: Ooty carrot had a sharp rise which is sold at Rs 45 per kg on (Jan 4) from Rs 35 per kg on January 1. Apart from Ooty carrot, vegetable prices at Chennai’s Koyambedu wholesale market is largely steady on January 4 (Sunday).

The price of drumsticks has been at a peak for the past few months. For the last few days, with no change in prices, drumsticks are being sold at Rs 320 per kg.

Garlic, which was being sold at up to Rs 300 per kg, witnessed a decline last month. After dropping by nearly Rs 100, garlic continues to be sold at the same reduced price.

While mangoes are being sold at Rs 80 per kg, ginger is priced at Rs 60 per kg.

Tomatoes, cauliflower, and beetroot are being sold at Rs 40 per kg.

Green chillies and peas are being sold at Rs 35 per kg.

Potatoes, lemons, and beans are also being sold at Rs 25 per kg.
