CHENNAI: A 29-year-old coach of an all-girls kabaddi team, who was accused of sexually harassing a minor girl, was arrested from Kodaikanal by a special team, about three weeks after a case was registered against him.
The coach, Raji, evaded apprehension by police and has been on the run since a case was registered under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (Pocso) Act against him based on a complaint from a family member of one of the girls.
The complainant who lost both her parents has been residing with her grandmother. The coach had allegedly sexually harassed her when the grandmother was away. The mother of another player, too, uploaded a video accusing the coach of alienating her daughter from her while a section of players accused the mother of making unfair allegations for monetary gains.
Based on the complaint, the Semmancheri AWPS registered a case and arrested Raji. He was produced before a magistrate and remanded in judicial custody.
