New city CoP ADGP Mahesh Aggarwal to take charge today

Additional Director General of Police Mahesh Kumar Aggarwal, the new Chennai Police Commissioner, is set to take charge on Thursday.

Aggarwal hails from Punjab and was first posted as the SP, Theni and has also been the SP, Thoothukudi; Deputy Commissioner of Police, Flower Bazaar, Chennai, and Deputy Commissioner of Police, Traffic South. He served in the CBI and the CB-CID, before being appointed as Commissioner of Police, Madurai city and later Additional Commissioner in Chennai.

Outgoing Commissioner ADGP AK Viswanathan has been transferred after serving the city for three years and 45 days. He was instrumental in implementing the ‘Third Eye’ project. He will now take over the office of ADGP, Operation. Chennai City Additional Commissioner, South, Prem Anand Sinha has been posted as the new Commissioner of Madurai city in place of S Davidson Devasirvatham, who is the new as ADGP, technical services, Chennai. N Kannan, DIG, internal security, has been promoted as IG and posted as Additional Commissioner, Traffic, Chennai city, in place of A Arun, who has been given the control of north Chennai. R Dinakaran, Additional commissioner, north Chennai, has been posted as Additional commissioner, Chennai south.
