The deceased, S Nagoor Meeran Hussain, was a Class 6 student at a private school in Chennai, said police. The incident happened on Sunday when the boy was standing outside his house at Ariyanvayil village off the high road. An MTC bus proceeding towards Pulicat from the Tiruvottiyur bus depot knocked the boy down before running over him and killing him on the spot. The boy’s kin and neighbours held protests and laid siege to the bus. Minjur police rushed to the spot and later dispersed the crowd after holding talks.
