MTC bus conductor held for assaulting passenger at Central Railway Station bus stand

According to the police, the incident occurred on January 15 at around 8:45 pm when the victim, Praveen Arul Prasath (31), boarded a special Pongal bus from Ennore to Marina Beach.

CHENNAI: A Metropolitan Transport Corporation (MTC) bus conductor was arrested on Wednesday for allegedly assaulting a passenger near the MGR Chennai Central railway station bus stand.

According to the police, the incident occurred around 8.45 pm on January 15 when the passenger, Praveen Arul Prasad (31), boarded a special service operated for Pongal from Ennore to Marina Beach.

The display board on the bus showed a different destination, which triggered an argument between Prasad and the conductor, Madesh.

During the altercation, Madesh allegedly assaulted Prasad, inflicting a cut injury near his left eyebrow. Prasad was rushed to the Rajiv Gandhi Government General Hospital, where he is currently undergoing treatment.

Based on Prasad's complaint, the Flower Bazaar police registered a case against Madesh and arrested him. Further investigation is underway.
