Man kills 45-year-old wife in Chromepet during argument

Police said the deceased Visuvasa Mary of Hastinapuram in Chromepet was working as a maid. Visuvasa Mary's husband, Veera Prakasam (55), is a wage worker. The couple has three daughters and all of them, married.

CHENNAI: A 55-year-old man murdered his 45-year-old wife in Chromepet during a quarrel on Thursday.

Police said the deceased Visuvasa Mary of Hastinapuram in Chromepet was working as a maid. Visuvasa Mary's husband, Veera Prakasam (55), is a wage worker. The couple has three daughters and all of them, married.

Police said Veeraprakasam used to doubt his wife's behaviour and the couple would quarrel often. Veeraprakasan would also follow his wife to the places where she goes for work and quarrel with her.

On Wednesday night, Mary returned home from work and Veeraprakasam who had consumed liquor started to argue with Mary during a heated argument. He took a sickle from the house and attacked Mary on her head and she died on the spot. Police said Veeraprakasam escaped from the house after the incident. On Thursday morning, their daughter Aarthi (28) who visited the house and found Mary lying dead in a pool of blood. Soon, the Chitlapakkam police were informed and the body was sent to post-mortem at the Chromepet GH. The police have registered a case and the search is on to nab Veeraprakasam who is missing.
